Favorite Things ~ Two Things From The World Wide Web & Some Snow Portraits

Quick explanation of a Favorite Things post…simply put I will share something that I have come across either in person or online, as is the case of today, that I have found helpful useful, funny, or overall just enjoyable.

Today’s find are along the lines of motivational I guess you could say. Not sure if anyone else needs to hear this but I sure did!

First up from my friend Lori, a health coach.

Man, do I need this reminder! I don’t know about you but my mood can change in the blink of an eye. But if I am going to succeed in some endeavour it most definitely cannot be according to how I feel at any given moment.

And then I read this written by Strangest Loop:

Preparing to do the thing isn't doing the thing

Scheduling time to do the thing isn't doing the thing.

Making a to-do list for the thing isn't doing the thing.

Telling people you're going to do the thing isn't doing the

thing.

Messaging friends who may or may not be doing the thing

isn't doing the thing.

Writing a banger tweet about how you're going to do the

thing isn't doing the thing

Hating on yourself for not doing the thing isn't doing the

thing. Hating on other people who have done the thing isn't

doing the thing. Hating on the obstacles in the way of

doing the thing isn't doing the thing.

Fantasizing about all of the adoration you'll receive once

you do the thing isn't doing the thing.

Reading about how to do the thing isn't doing the thing.

Reading about how other people did the thing isn't doing

the thing. Reading this essay isn't doing the thing.

The only thing that is doing the thing is doing the thing

I can daydream all day long about something. I can plan and envision and see it all play out so well in my head and it feels like I have actually done something when in reality I haven’t actually done anything. It’s like my ability to clean out old photos on my phone so that I feel like I have organized and accomplished something only I have ignored the need to organize and accomplish something in the real world.

Anyone else? Just me? Okay, cool beans. Y’all just carry on.

But so that my first Friday Favorite Things post ends on a happy note here are a few of my favorite pictures from our recent snowstorm. Portraits in snow with a fancy dress? Yes, please. Abigail was a trooper and indulged me even though it was so cold! I don’t think I have ever taken pictures so fast in my life! Totally worth it though!

Happy Friday friends! Have a great weekend.
