Some Days Just Be Like That

Have you ever had Monday sorts of things happen on a day not a Monday?

You know what I mean. Mondays have a reputation, earned or not, for being, shall we say, difficult.

Take this for example.

One particular Tuesday morning I got up and poured myself a cup of coffee and then walked down to the laundry room to start the load I had tossed in the washer the night before.

Now, all I did the night before was throw the clothes into the washer knowing I would start it in the morning so as not to risk that sour smell that sometimes happens if wet clothes sit in the machine for longer than 3.2 seconds in our Louisiana heat.

Because this is life on a farm I wanted this particular load to have the heavy duty cycle and so I also tossed in the last bit of cleaning vinegar* I had on hand.

I went about my business for the next 78 minutes and when I heard the “I’m finished” chime from the washer I went back to throw the clothes into the dryer.

Only to discover that in an attempt to be helpful the night before my son had put the dirty clothes in the dryer when he was getting his laundry out of the dryer.

Did he notice that said clothes were not wet at all?

Apparently not.

Did I notice that the washer was empty before I turned it on?

Nope. Didn’t even look.

So did my washing machine wash a load of heavily soiled air complete with laundry detergent, color safe bleach, and vinegar?

Why yes, yes it did.

And does that mean that my dryer dried already dry dirty clothes for 75 minutes the night before?

It sure does!

Some days just gonna be like this I guess.

*Did you know that adding a tiny amount of cleaning grade vinegar to your wash will help get rid of any funky smells your clothes may have? It’s true! It also acts as a very effective fabric softener too.
