New & Old Blogging Things
It’s has been such a lovely morning so far today.
The sun is bright after days of mostly clouds and that in and of itself is cause for happiness but honestly it could be pouring rain and I would still be happy.
The upcoming weekend is going to be full of noise, noise, and more noise and I am so excited I can barely stand it!
For the first time. in well over a year, all of my children will be here. I cannot express the joy I’m feeling…it will be busy and people will be sleeping on couches but with the exception of one errant son-in-law (I jest. He will actually be in Washington, DC to film a local to him choir who will be performing at some inauguration events. I’m positive he would much rather be here on the farm enjoying and participating in the total and utter chaos though. You know, instead of being able to see and record a historical political event, right Hays?) all of my immediate family will be under our roof.
I wanted to pop on here and thank those of you who took the time to read my first post yesterday and to give you a brief rundown on how I hope this blogging thing is going to go.
Mondays or Tuesdays will typically be days on which I share just stuff; whatever is happening here on the farm or just normal everyday life stuff I guess is the way to put it. A few weekly features from my old blogging days will be found on The Farmer’s Wife too like the Wordless Wednesday in which I share some of my photography, a personal favorite with Think On These Things Thursday and a Scripture passage will be posted. Fridays have a few options with different things…Friday Favorites will highlight a place or thing that I have come across and found to be useful or worth noting, Friday Funnies in which I am hoping to convince The Farmer, a connoisseur of dad jokes, to let me record him telling one just because it’s funny (although maybe not as hilarious to you as to me but…) or a meme from the world wide web, or, if I am so fortunate, to share something from our son Sam who has a wicked sense of humor and a talent for cartooning. I seem to like alliteration so anything else I come up with will randomly show up because I am all loosey goosey like that. It makes The Farmer a little crazy but I like to think of it as part of my charm.
(I am going to take just a moment and let you know that I am discovering the grave disservice that texting has done to the written world. The number of times that I have started to add some sort of emoticon at the end of sentence! If I need to rely on a smiley face or that lopsided winky one to make sure I am communicating my thoughts correctly I might as well shut ‘er down. An added benefit to blogging again is obviously going to be brushing up on my word skills. But it doesn’t seem to be doing much for my spelling (insert squinty eyed laughing emoji here.)
Another feature of our website that will be debuting next week will be The Kitchen where recipes will be shared. One thing I really dislike about finding a recipe online is how much stuff you sometimes have to scroll through just to get to the recipes. It might just be my own pet peeve preferences but one of the things I decided to do when we discussed putting recipes on here is that they will debut, if you will, here and I will link to the actual recipe in The Kitchen. So if you want to pin or bookmark or whatever you can do it without having to go through all the hassle of scrolling through my random stories about how, where, or why I found and made the recipe. You’re welcome.
So that’s it, friends. A not so hard and fast blogging plan. I hope you will stick around so can we have fun with it!
