Another Artic Blast On Its Way
Sadly, but probably for the better, no snow is expected.
I love the snow! Of course the times I have enjoyed snow it has always been when I am visiting somewhere or a smallish freak of nature such as we witnessed in southwest Louisiana a few weeks ago so I don’t have to deal with life with snow, which I am confident is a completely different experience.
But y’all it really was amazing. There was a quality of silence that was ethereal and even though I know there is actual scientific reasons behind it, much like there is with a rainbow, I prefer to just bask in the magic of it. My house just looked so pretty dressed in snow and oh, my goodness, these big old oak trees of ours festooned with it truly was a sight to behold! And probably not one we will see again anytime soon so I am really grateful to have gotten pictures.
I might be a little bummed at no snow but that doesn’t mean I am unhappy about the cold. In my mind February is supposed to be cold, you know? So let’s bust out the dutch ovens and cook up some delicious Magoo stew and pair it with some delicious crusty sourdough bread and snuggle up around the fire and enjoy it.
I’m sorry?
Oh, what is Magoo stew you ask? Let me tell you.
It’s more familiar name, and the one you might recognize, is sausage and gnocchi soup but the first time I made it I just kinda bumbled my way through the recipe a la Mr Magoo style and The Farmer’s name for it stuck. It is so simple to put together and packs quite the punch of flavor; especially if you are fortunate enough to have some sausage made from our wonderful pork.
Pop on over to The Kitchen and you can find the recipe here under the soups & stews tab. I promise you will not regret cooking up a pot of it! And of course you can always order your fresh wonderful loaf of sourdough bread from me to enjoy on the side.
